THE STORY
Transylvania has once again fallen under the shadow of Count Dracula. His castle has returned, and with it comes an army of monsters and supernatural forces.
Simon Belmont, a warrior of the legendary Belmont clan, enters Dracula's castle armed with the Vampire Killer whip. His mission is simple: survive the castle, defeat its guardians and destroy Dracula.
The journey takes Simon through a series of dangerous areas filled with enemies, deadly traps and powerful bosses before he reaches the final confrontation with the Prince of Darkness.
GAMEPLAY
Monster Hunting
Battle vampires, zombies, bats, skeletons and many other creatures of the night.
Vampire Killer
Use Simon's legendary whip and upgrade it as you progress through Dracula's castle.
Sub-Weapons
Find weapons such as the axe, holy water, dagger, boomerang and throwing crosses.
Dracula's Castle
Explore multiple areas of the castle while overcoming enemies and deadly obstacles.
Boss Battles
Face powerful supernatural guardians before reaching Dracula himself.
Hearts
Collect hearts from defeated enemies to power Simon's special sub-weapons.

THE LEGACY
Castlevania established many of the elements that would become synonymous with the series: gothic castles, vampire hunters, supernatural enemies, powerful bosses and the eternal conflict between the Belmont family and Dracula.
Its combination of precise platforming, exploration, memorable music and challenging combat helped make the original Castlevania one of the defining action games of the NES era.
THE NIGHT BEGINS
